Students Behavior

Resulta ng larawan para sa teacher's discussion picture cartoons

In my 20hrs of observation I see a little bit of improvement of the students behavior, because on my first day of observation the students are very noisy and not listening to the teacher's discussion and I think it is because the the classroom setting, because I have noticed that in one (1) classroom there are two (2) sections the big group and small group, so that the students can't focus or concentrate while their teacher is discussing.

After a few days my resource teacher decided to go to the library during discussion so that the student will listen and can focus to the discussion. In a few days I have noticed that the students behavior are improving in a way that while the teacher is discussing the students are listening quietly to the their teacher, but sometimes I can still see some students who are chatting with their classmates and not listening to the teacher.

Teacher as a Role Model of Values

Resulta ng larawan para sa values

Teachers are like actors and actresses because they are the one that students look up too, that's why as a teacher you should be a good role model to your students, not only in the classroom but also outside the school.

In my observation, I saw my cooperating teacher how she discipline her students and how she teach her students a proper values. She teach her students a values in a simple way like when  you want to borrow something you have to ask permission first to the owner, and by saying po and opo to the teachers, parents, and to the elderly.

Discipline and Procedure
PGN-104

As we watched the part III of "The Effective Teacher" by Harry Wong, Dr. Wong discussed about the discipline and procedures, and he talks about the differences of discipline and classroom management, wherein discipline is how we want our students behave in the class while the classroom management is how the teacher manage the students behavior.

Teaching our students a proper discipline is very important, but it's very hard to teach, because as a future teacher we should have a lot of patience in dealing with the behavior of our students, that's why we should set rules inside the classroom, because it shows how the students needs to behave inside the class. We can also use rewards in disciplining our students like when they follow the rules or if they behave properly in the class they will get a reward through it. to become a effective teacher to our students, I think we should build harmonious relationships to our students, because based on my experience if the students have a good relationships to the teacher, it will be easier for the teacher to discipline the students.

Child Protection Policy

Resulta ng larawan para sa child protection policy pictures

In Hand Prints School of Progressive Education they implement the law of child protection policy wherein they really protect the rights of every students, like the student's records because we all know that the records of the students are very confidential especially the records of students with special needs, such as medical records, Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), and etc. Aside from the confidentiality of the records, Hand Prints School also have a security guards and CCTV camera  to secure the safety of every students inside the school or classrooms.

Teachers in Hand Prints School also promote the rights of every students in a way that the teachers gives an equal opportunity for all the students to learn and to develop, and  by accommodating the individual needs of their students. They also give the proper care for all the students with the help of the teacher aid to make sure that they are comfortable inside the classroom.

Teaching Philosophy

Kaugnay na larawan

Every teacher has his/her own beliefs when it comes in teaching. Teachers themselves can identify their own teaching style based on their philosophy because of their beliefs that defines how they teach and manage the class.

Teacher Aiza believe in the theory of learning by doing, because for her it will be more effective if the students will have their experience or if they are the one who had the first hand experience, and it will be more effective if the students will manipulate objects instead of just listening from their teacher.

Teacher Aiza also believe with the progressivism approach, wherein the learning of the students will become more meaningful if the student is holistically ready, because we cannot force the student to learn if they are not yet ready or if the lessons are not appropriate for them.

Orientation

Last July 23, 2018 it was our deployment. I was assigned in Hand Prints School of Progressive Education to observe. As we arrived to Hand Prints School, we had our orientation first before they allow us to observe in their school. During the orientation Mr. Jonard Yamsuan the HR of the school was the one who oriented us, and he discussed about the rules and regulations of the school that we should follow during our observation.
  • No using of cellphone
  • Don't chat to the teacher if it's not necessary
  • Don't come late (be on time)
  • As permission before taking of picture
  • Confidentiality of the student (face/s of the student should not be shown)
Orientation is very important, to know the things that we should do and don't during our observation, because as a future educator we should be the person who knows how to follow rule, because we are the one that serves to be the role model for the student.

Self Introduction

Hello! I'm Nichole G. Lingad, I'm 18 years old. I am a pre-service teacher, currently taking up Bachelor of Elementary Education major in Special Education at Holy Angel University. To be honest, teaching is not my first choice, but my auntie said that it is in-demand. So I enrolled Education major in Values Education because that day I was looking for the major MAPEH because I love the health subject, but there is BPE major and I think BPE is only about Physical Education, so I have to choose between Biosci and Values Ed. major, then I take values ed. as my major because I thought it was an easy subject "before", and that time I really don't know what to take. When I was in 2nd year college my auntie find out that there is Special Education major at Holy Angel University, so I shifted to Special Education major.

When my journey start as a future Special Education teacher, little by little I starting to love and understand what Special Education means. Now that I'm 4th year college, I am very sure to my chosen profession, and I can't wait to enter the teaching field to teach/help those individual with special needs to be independent. Thank you to those people who opened my heart to children with special needs especially to all my professor in Special Education major.

As we watched the part II of "The Effective Teacher" by Harry Wong, Dr. Wong discussed about the 4 Factors Governing Student Learning and The Reasons for a Seating Chart. The idea that I want to own when I entered the teaching field are the following: Teacher and student interrelationship, and Aids name memorization.

As a future a teacher shaping and building your student's trust is important. Gaining trust from them can help you have a good day in teaching them. Also, students can enjoy your company up to the point that they can already share with you their problems/personal problems. The trust that you earned from your student should not be broken, because that's make a good teacher and student relationship. Lastly, memorizing the name of your student is also significant, because by knowing their name, it will make them feel encouraged to study hard. Some of them wants to be remembered by name to feel that a teacher has a care for them.

The Effective Teacher by Harry Wong

INDIVIDUAL TRAINING REPORT

Name of Participant/Attendee: Nichole G. Lingad
Major/Year Level: BEED-Special Education/ 4th year
School: Holy Angel University
Title of Training Attended: The Effective Teacher
Place & Date: PGN-104 June 25, 2018

I.
The seminar discussed about the 4 Stages of Teaching, and these are he: Fantasy, Survival, Mastery, and Impact. Fantasy is the stage wherein the new teacher think/ expect that everything that will happen in the classroom will become perfect. Survival is the stage wherein the teacher tend to discussed what he/she planned to teach in a week just to say that they have done their job. Mastery, in this stage the teacher understand their role already as a teacher, wherein they take responsibilities to their students. Lastly the Impact, in this stage the teacher can make a difference, where they can be able to change their students' lives, because of the impact on how they teach, and that makes them an effective teacher.

II.
The said topic are relevant to my present course, and professional and personal growth, because it helps me to understand more about the real role of the teacher, that we don't teach for the sake of surviving the teaching field, and for the sake of money, nor we teach them to become knowledgeable, a good person, and be ready in dealing to the real world.

III.
Mr. Wong stated that "The effective teacher affects life" and "be the best burglars" , in a way that we read books and study to get the knowledge and skills on how to become an effective teacher to my future students with special needs.

IV.
I will share my knowledge/skills to my fellow pre-service teacher by recommending them to watch the video that we watched, because it will help them to understand the real role of the teacher, and what are the things that they will encounter when they enter the teaching field.

V.
In the seminar I have adopt the most is "The effective teacher affects life" because as a teacher we don't just share our knowledge to them but we also touching our student's lives by motivating and/or encouraging them to strive harder, and to fulfill their potential.
